Home farming will be encouraged, where feasible waste land previous left to go wild will be redeveloped as allotments. Everyone will be encouraged as much as possible to start their own allotment with financial assistance given to those who do. Where an allotment isn't possible people will be given incentives to turn a proportion of the gardens to grow food, etc.
Although produce from these allotments will mainly be for the consumption of those who've grown the crops, those with larger plots will be encouraged to open stalls where the crops can be sold to those not lucky enough to have their own plot. Chemicals will not be allowed on the allotments! Anyone found using chemicals on their crops will be immediately banned from growing on the allotment. Those using their own gardens are free to use chemicals as they see fit, but should not be allowed to sell or give away their crops.
Land once used for solar farms will be returned to their natural growing use. Solar panels have a useful life of around 20 - 25 years, and once they are done they will be dismantled. No money will be made available to the land owners for this, as they've already recieved more than enough compensation as it is in the form of tax-payer funded incentives.
Where possible all of the UKs food supply will be grown locally, with as little as possible imported. Obviously some foods can only be grown abroad, and we will still need to import these for the foreseeable future, but it is hoped that with advances in farming this will change.
